Stanley Black & Decker is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead their Manufacturing and Project Engineering teams in Connecticut to provide high-quality technical support for their high-volume aerospace business, focusing on accountability, efficiency, and learning, while supporting site and division strategies and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Six+ years minimum experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or equivalent role
  • Three+ years minimum experience in a manager/leadership position in a manufacturing setting
  • Ability to research, compile and analyze data effectively for reports or decision making
  • Strong working knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean tools and methodologies
  • Strong background in machining, metal-forming or complex assembly experience a plus
  • CNC programming, machine automation, sheet metal fabrication

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Manufacturing and Project Engineering teams in both Columbia and Manchester Connecticut to deliver high quality technical support for our high volume aerospace business, focusing on accountability, efficiency, and learning; support the site and division strategies and initiatives.
  • Be responsible for creating and maintaining adequate manufacturing procedures and processes; establish and enhance robust machining methods and tooling required for production; maintain accurate manufacturing standards.
  • Work closely with manufacturing operations to develop a world-class operating system.
  • Assist in identifying capital requirements to improve current processes
  • Develop and implement a cross-training plan and maintain workforce skill level to meet business requirements (CNC programming, machine automation, sheet metal fabrication); and conduct employee performance. reviews/evaluations and development discussions to ensure professional growth.
  • Lead efforts to identify root cause and instill the culture of problem solving/continuous improvement (Kaizen/process improvement/lean techniques); make appropriate process changes, and implementation of sustainable short/long term corrective and preventive actions; reduce or eliminate recurrence of quality issues and minimize scrap/rework costs.
