NextEra Energy Marketing is seeking to support long-term fundamental forecasts of the dynamic US power market by developing and improving proprietary forecasting tools and supporting long-term forecast and cost benefit analyses.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with Python and R
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Analytical problem solving

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with and assist the Market Fundamentals team in developing modeling inputs and improving internal processes for proprietary forecasting models, which provide insights into wholesale power markets.
  • Collect, analyze, and validate market data from key industry sources such as the EIA, ISO/RTOs, and third-party consultants to support model development and internal bespoke analysis.
  • Create a succinct presentation on a market-related topic studied over the summer that is meaningful to our business; present final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship, demonstrating analytical skills and market insights gained.
  • Contribute to the company newsletter which is shared internally and with external customers, by providing market insights and analysis on relevant energy trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or department leadership.
