ISO New England is looking to ensure the safe and reliable flow of electricity in the region and planning for the future of the electric grid, particularly in the context of the ongoing transition to clean energy.
Requirements
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Operations Research, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with power system simulation tools (e.g., PLEXOS, AURORA, GE MARS)
- Knowledge of optimization techniques and experience tuning models using solvers such as CPLEX or GUROBI
- Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Python, R, SAS, MATLAB, and/or GAMS
- Experience with SQL and developing and maintaining relational databases and large datasets
- Familiarity with data visualization platforms (e.g., Shiny, Tableau, Power BI)
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a suite of in-house and vendor-supported market and power system simulation tools
- Conduct simulation and optimization studies to support performance assessments and policy/design evaluations
- Perform benchmarking, scenario modeling, and stochastic simulations
- Evaluate simulation outputs, produce insightful reports, present findings to stakeholders, and automate workflows to improve efficiency and reproducibility
- Design, implement, and maintain dynamic dashboards and data visualization tools to support simulation and market monitoring reports
- Create visualizations that highlight patterns, trends, and outliers in large-scale energy market datasets
