The Ohio State University is seeking a Martha N. and John C. Moser Chair in Arthropod Biosystematics and Biological Diversity to lead a nationally recognized, externally-funded research program and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, with a focus on lineage-focused approaches to questions in evolution and ecology of terrestrial arthropods.
Requirements
- PhD in relevant field
- Professional experience with academic research, including developing, externally funding, and publishing research outcomes
- Experience with training or mentoring junior scholars
- Evidence of sustained productivity and excellence in research
- Commitment to the highest quality of graduate and undergraduate teaching
- Experience conducting research within research collections
- Novel methods in phylogenetic systematics, species discovery and description, biodiversity informatics, population genetics, or evolution of character systems or interspecific interactions
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an externally funded, nationally-visible research program
- Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level
- Demonstrate excellence in student mentorship
- Direct research and service activities of the Entomological Collections within the OSU Museum of Biological Diversity
- Support departmental operations as an active citizen through service on committees, project assignments, and/or administrative leadership roles
- Lead a research program that actively engages graduate and undergraduate students
- Conduct research within research collections
Other
- Earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience
- Ability to work in the US, with sponsorship for required work visas available
