Matterport is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join their Platform Engineering team to build features and services for the Matterport Platform, which acts as the glue and entry point for all other Matterport products and services, handling billions of requests each month.
Requirements
- 5+ years of API (REST or GraphQL) development experience, designing and delivering features and services in a cloud environment
- Experience developing SaaS solutions using modern OOP languages, such as, Java, Server-side Kotlin
- Experience with microservices, Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with messaging frameworks, such as, RabbitMQ, Kafka
- Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Exposure to non-relational data stores such as FoundationDB
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in all areas of platform development
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation and deployment of new features and services
- Build features and services using Kotlin, Python and front-end technologies
- Build APIs, backend services and integrations that support our products
- Work with relational and non-relational data stores
- Ensure proper monitoring and respond to issues with live environments
- Be an advocate for good engineering practices
- Mentor and coach junior engineers to meet their full potential

- This role is located in our Irvine, CA. office and has a schedule of 4 days on-site and 1 day work from home.
