WSP USA is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op to support the Property & Buildings Team in Philadelphia, PA, to gain hands-on experience in mechanical engineering and design as it relates to the building and construction industry.
Requirements
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit (preferred).
- Familiarity with various engineering standards and codes.
- Ability to learn and use Autodesk Revit to model mechanical airside and hydronic components and systems.
- Basic principles of Mechanical (HVAC) Engineering.
- Reading and interpreting building plans and mechanical diagrams.
- Project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Learn basic principles of Mechanical (HVAC) Engineering.
- Become familiar with reading and interpreting building plans and mechanical diagrams.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Learn Autodesk Revit to model mechanical airside and hydronic components and systems.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to develop engineering drawings and specifications.
- Travel to job sites to survey and review existing buildings and construction progress through various stages of a project.
Other
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related Undergraduate program through Drexel University with an anticipated graduation date of October 2026 or later.
- Must be 18 or older.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the co-op.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
