Johnson Controls is seeking to design, develop, and test innovative electromechanical products, including valves, actuators, thermostats, and building automation components, and is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support these efforts.
Requirements
- CAD experience with 3D modeling (Creo preferred)
- Experience with 3D printing and prototyping
- Familiarity with sensor integration, embedded control systems, or electromechanical design
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn advanced tools and methods
- Ability to work with mechanical design and development of electromechanical products
- Knowledge of FEA analysis and interpretation of results
- Experience with laboratory testing and validation of components and assemblies
Responsibilities
- Assist in mechanical design and development of electromechanical products such as actuators, valves, and gear-driven systems.
- Support prototype builds using 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques.
- Create and update 3D CAD models and drawings using Creo or similar tools.
- Help perform basic FEA analysis and interpret results under supervision.
- Participate in design reviews, tolerance stack-ups, and documentation activities.
- Aid in laboratory testing and validation of components and assemblies.
- Assist with VAVE projects, product enhancements, and sustaining engineering tasks.
Other
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Mechanical Engineering (junior or senior level preferred)
- Must be local to Milwaukee / Glendale, WI, or commutable distance
- U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.
- Ability to work full-time during summer; part-time during school year may be possible
- Must be willing to prepare technical reports, maintain lab equipment, and organize test setups
