CRB is looking for Mechanical Engineer Interns to assist in the design and engineering of HVAC, mechanical utility, plumbing, fire protection, and other building support systems for clients in the life sciences and food and beverage industries.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D collaboration tools (Navisworks, BIM360 Suite, Assemble)
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards within the AEC industry
  • Experience with HVAC systems strongly preferred
  • Working towards Fundamental of Engineering Exam registration or completion preferred
  • Utilizing computer aided drafting and engineering software

Responsibilities

  • Developing project documents (e.g., calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications, etc.) for clients in coordination with regulatory bodies and industry standards.
  • Assisting with development of conceptual designs and coordinating with the design team under direction of the project team lead.
  • Coordinating with multiple disciplines and other internal and external team members (e.g., vendors, clients, and contractors).
  • Mechanical Interns focus on the design and engineering of HVAC, mechanical utility, plumbing, fire protection, and other building support systems into the built work environment.
  • Typical tasks and deliverables include load calculations, utility assessments, energy modeling, design reports, code evaluations, plans, schedules, installation details, specification and coordination with manufacturers and trade partners.
  • Tasks will include utilizing computer aided drafting and engineering software.

Other

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an accredited program
  • Available to work full-time during the internship period: May–August 2026
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote)
  • Strong interest in the Food & Beverage or Life Sciences industries
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data and develop actionable insights
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and with internal and external stakeholders (vendors, clients, contractors)
  • Eagerness to learn about the AEC industry and apply academic knowledge to real-world engineering applications
  • Willingness to relocate or work in one of CRB’s internship locations, which may include: Kansas City (MO), Raleigh (NC), Orange County (CA), Philadelphia (PA), St. Louis (MO), Boston (MA), San Diego (CA), Kalamazoo (MI), Denver (CO), and/or Rockville (MD)
  • Prior internship or co-op experience in Mechanical Engineering or related field
