WSP USA is seeking a Mining Engineering Intern to support their Earth & Environment Team, providing hands-on experience to enhance education and professional aptitude, and to assist with real projects under the guidance of senior staff.
Requirements
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Mining Engineering or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Mining Engineering or related, Masters Degree or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
- Experience in materials testing.
Responsibilities
- Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Learn basic principles of Mining Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Assist in desktop studies on geology, mine stability, excavation and minerals processing.
- Assist in technical reporting on client resources and reserves for SK-1300 / NI-43-101 / JORC requirements.
- Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
Other
- Must be 18 or older.
- Demonstrated interest in Mining Engineering, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
- Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
