Collins Aerospace is seeking a Strategic Solutions Sr. Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers in the design, development, and documentation of software engineering plans for large, complex systems within the Strategic Nuclear Deterrence domain. The role aims to ensure the efficacy and security of vital national defense software.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading and mentoring a team of Software Engineers.
- Experience leading engineers through software development of applications
- Project Management, Control Account Management (CAM), and earned value experience.
- Working knowledge of bidding and project/task estimation tools (e.g. SEER-SEM products).
- Experience with processes such as peer review, configuration, and change management.
- Participating in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Experience with software virtualization, hypervisors
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of software engineers through design, development and documentation of software engineering plans of large complex systems.
- Coordinate across engineering teams in the integration of large complex systems, utilizing automation and simulation tools.
- Manage program technical risks by evaluating requirements and design aspects.
- Attract, engage and retain a team of software engineers (10 – 15), to build critical software applications for a NO FAIL mission.
- Perform hiring decisions, performance assessment, and personnel management for a team of technical staff members.
- Plan project level work and meet schedule, cost, and performance goals.
- Interact with a cross-functional team of (including, but not limited to) Engineers, Engineering leaders, Program Managers, Business Developers, Finance, Quality, and Production

- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- DoD Clearance: Secret
- Requires on-site presence.
- Effective communication skills with all levels of management, program team members, and external stakeholders.
- Travel occasionally to support program requirements
