Develop and validate models and simulations of inverter-based resources, specifically focusing on solar and battery systems, to ensure products meet interconnection requirements and perform optimally in real-world applications.
Requirements
- 2 years of experience in modeling and simulations using PSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF in an industrial or research setting
- Demonstrated software programming skills using C++, Fortan or modeling languages
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with interpretation and application of interconnection requirements and standards such as IEEE 2800, IEEE 1547, NOGRR 245.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with power electronics-based power conversion technology and applications
- Demonstrated experience in power electronics based New Product Development
Responsibilities
- Develop electromagnetic transient and positive sequence models and simulations of inverter-based resources
- Conduct validation testing to ensure models accurately represent actual product response.
- Conduct simulation studies to verify that products meet interconnection requirements.
- Develop simulations of utility scale renewable energy power plants including high penetration scenarios
- Identify new interconnection requirements and develop specifications for product design.
- Provide technical support to the engineering and technical services team
- Provide recommendations for changes to applications of product at site by collecting and analyzing field data, as requested
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with emphasis on power systems or equivalent via education and/or work experience
- Demonstrated innovative problem-solving skills

- Availability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 20% of the time, often with limited notice
