Netflix is looking to solve complex and nuanced decision-making processes using data-driven analytical products, and is seeking a PhD intern to support this effort.
Requirements
- Experience programming in R and/or Python
- Comfortable with SQL
- Experience with version control systems such as git
- Past publications in relevant conferences or journals
- Engaged in relevant research into online experimentation (sequential, adaptive, etc), observational causal inference, or a related area
Responsibilities
- Leverage methodologies such as machine learning, statistics, econometrics, optimization, and operations research to drive improvements across multiple areas of the business
- Conduct research into online experimentation (sequential, adaptive, etc), observational causal inference, or a related area
- Manipulate and apply statistical methods to truly massive data sets
- Develop innovative solutions to real-life decision-making challenges at Netflix
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Data Science & Engineering organization and beyond
- Present work at key internal forums within Netflix
- Help optimize all aspects of Netflix's global entertainment business

- Currently pursuing a PhD degree at an accredited university, graduating in December 2026, Summer 2027 or later
- To be intern-eligible, you must be returning to school for one semester or quarter post-Summer internship
- Great communication skills, both oral and written
- Curious, self-motivated, and excited about solving open-ended challenges at Netflix
- Ability to work in Los Gatos, CA or Los Angeles, CA office
