General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc. is looking for a Network Operations Intern to support the GD Mission Systems enterprise network by monitoring, troubleshooting, and fulfilling support requests.
Requirements
- thorough understanding of network operations principles
- Working knowledge of network principles, practices, and mindset
- Basic understanding of network protocols and technologies, such as TCP/IP, DNS, and routing
- Familiarity with scripting languages, such as Python or Bash
- Basic understanding of network monitoring tools and platforms
- Working knowledge of server architecture
- understanding of virtualization technologies, storage systems, enterprise security practices, and replication technologies
Responsibilities
- monitoring, troubleshooting, and fulfilling support requests
- work on SDWAN, LAN, and/or WLAN technologies
- exposure to enabling technologies such as network access controls and network monitoring tools
- write simple scripts with supervision and guidance
- Basic understanding of network monitoring tools and platforms
- Working knowledge of server architecture
- understanding of virtualization technologies, storage systems, enterprise security practices, and replication technologies
Other
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates personally accountable behavior and shows initiative and enthusiasm on assignments.
- Able to follow detailed task direction and instructions on tasks of limited scope using entry-level understanding of the Network Operations discipline.
- enrolled in an accredited degree program with a preference in a related field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Network Engineering.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
