Babel Street is looking to solve the problem of bridging the gap between linguistic theory and practical AI applications in their identity intelligence and risk operations
Requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Python and relevant AI libraries/frameworks for working with language (e.g. Langchain, Pydantic AI, Hugging Face Transformers, PyTorch/TensorFlow)
- Strong understanding of software architecture, data structures, and design patterns
- Data sciences experiences, preferably for linguistics: data annotation, guideline design, and data quality evaluation
- Proven ability to integrate ML models into production environments and experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
- Experience with NLP, AI software development, or a related role
- Familiarity with AI libraries and frameworks such as PyTorch/TensorFlow

Responsibilities
- designing, developing, and deploying robust and scalable natural language processing (NLP) in our agentic AI systems
- recognizing NLP tasks and defining clear evaluation guidelines
- selecting the best technologies to solve complex problems and integrating them seamlessly into larger software applications
- writing high-quality, maintainable code, enhance and optimize models
- collaborating with product managers and stakeholders to translate project requirements into technical solutions
- taking theoretical ideas from linguistics and implementing them as practical, innovative text analytics and AI-driven features
- enhancing relationships with senior partners by adapting communication styles and often advising on complex matters
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Linguistics, or a related field
- 2-4 years of professional experience in NLP, AI software development, or a related role
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex linguistic and technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Ability to adapt communication styles and advise on complex matters
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate with product managers and stakeholders
