Mohawk Valley Health System is looking to solve the problem of providing adequate patient care and support in their Wynn Hospital by hiring an intern to perform select procedures and treatments under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in an accredited Nursing Program
- Completion of one semester of clinicals.
Responsibilities
- Carries out specific duties as directed by a floor RN to support patient healing and care delivery.
- Provides direct patient care which may include bathing, oral and hair care, bed making, ambulation and positioning, toileting.
- Takes and records patient measurements such as intake and output, vital signs, weights.
- Collects specimens (urine, stool, sputum), labels and sends to lab.
- Lifts and transfers patients using proper body mechanics, patient transfer devices and techniques.
- Sets up portable oxygen.
- Sets up suction equipment.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergency situations.
- Ability to lift and transfer patients using proper body mechanics.
- Ability to work with patients requiring 1:1 observation or assist with patient transport.
