Perkins needs to create high-quality, engaging online learning experiences to deliver best-in-class education to children, provide immersive training and support to professionals and families, advocate for inclusion, and accelerate innovation for people with disabilities.
Requirements
- Design and develop interactive online courses using best practices in instructional design, adult learning theory, and multimedia learning.
- Apply cutting-edge educational technology and stay informed on emerging tools (including AI) to enhance learning and engagement.
- Proficiency in course authoring tools, multimedia software, LMS platforms, and instructional technologies (experience with AI tools is a plus).
- Technical fluency—you don’t need to code, but you’re a confident user who enjoys exploring new digital tools and systems.
- Experience teaching in or designing for online environments, especially with a focus on accessibility or UI/UX, is a bonus.
- Strong grasp of instructional design models, adult learning theory, and learning experience (LX) design.
- Continuously assess and improve courses based on learner feedback and performance metrics.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop interactive online courses using best practices in instructional design, adult learning theory, and multimedia learning.
- Lead all aspects of multimedia development including video pre-production planning, storyboarding, and coordination with video production teams.
- Apply cutting-edge educational technology and stay informed on emerging tools (including AI) to enhance learning and engagement.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure instructional materials meet organizational standards, are accessible, and deliver measurable learning outcomes.
- Provide guidance and support to instructors and learners on effective use of course materials and learning technologies.
- Manage end-to-end course development projects—set timelines, coordinate stakeholders, track milestones, and deliver on time and within scope.
- Build, publish, maintain, and archive courses within our learning management system (LMS), while contributing to scalable, repeatable design processes.

- Collaborate closely with Perkins educators, SMEs, and stakeholders to gather content, design curriculum, and ensure learning experiences are practical, accessible, and impactful.
- Excellent project management and communication skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- A self-starter with a creative, problem-solving mindset and a strong attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Technologies, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience designing and developing online courses or instructional materials.
