DoorDash is looking to build the world's most reliable on-demand logistics engine for delivery and needs an Operations Research Scientist to help create the real-time logistics platform that powers their three-sided marketplace of consumers, merchants, and dashers.
Requirements
- 3+ years of research or industry experience working on complex optimization problems through mathematical programming or metaheuristics
- Programming fundamentals, experience in object-oriented and functional programming languages, and an understanding of algorithms
- PhD. or masters in operations research, industrial engineering, computer science or a related field
Responsibilities
- Design and implement new algorithm components within our production dispatching system to meet emerging requirements
- Integrate state-of-the-art optimization and machine learning techniques to improve the efficiency and quality of our dispatching decisions
- Extract insights from logistics system through analyzing data and modeling and translate those insights into production algorithm components
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, product managers, business operators, and more to develop cross-cutting and scalable solutions to guide value for our consumers, dashers, and merchants
