Operating and maintaining the crude condensate splitter units while ensuring safe and efficient operations in compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM), health, safety, and environmental standards.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in refinery or petrochemical operations, ideally in a crude condensate splitter unit or similar.
- Proficient in DCS/SCADA control systems and capable of analyzing data to troubleshoot issues.
- Familiarity with chemical processing concepts relevant to condensate splitting.
- Prior experience with Truck Management Systems (TMS 5/6/7)
- Ability to understand process operating procedures and follow the procedures in place.
- Ability to analyze data to troubleshoot issues.
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Send and receive email, perform inventory accounting, and enter repair work orders.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the crude condensate splitter unit, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Adjust process parameters to maintain quality, production targets, and optimal unit performance.
- Use SCADA and Yokogawa DCS systems to monitor process parameters, adjust controls, and respond to alarms. Diagnose issues, perform troubleshooting, and coordinate maintenance activities when necessary.
- Record operational data, including temperature, pressure, flow, and composition, to ensure accurate tracking and compliance with regulatory and production requirements.
- Act as a first responder to abnormal operating conditions. Follow established emergency response procedures to safeguard personnel and equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and assist maintenance personnel in identifying and addressing equipment malfunctions or leaks.
- Maintain accurate records of operational activities, incidents, and maintenance. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and Kinder Morgan internal policies and site specific procedures.
- Must satisfactorily complete all PSM operator training including passing performance evaluations & site specific knowledge tests.
Other
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s degree in Process Technology or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA PSM regulations, emergency response certification, and HAZWOPER training preferred.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, and respond to emergency conditions. Capable of working at heights and in varying environmental conditions. Required to stand, walk and climb for extended periods of time. Must wear FRC clothing. Ability to walk on paved, gravel or other uneven surfaces. Ability to maneuver and use hand tools in performance of various operational and maintenance functions.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions. Ability to work in 12 hr rotational shift schedules (day and night shifts) including overtime, call-outs, weekends and holidays. The facility operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The rotating shift schedule is a 5/4, 12 hr schedule.
- The position is subject to an operator call out schedule and the use of a cell phone for call-outs and call-backs requiring extended periods of overtime.
- Must be ready to respond at any hour of the day or night to emergency situations and participate as required with emergency response (integrated contingency plan) activities.
- Strong commitment to safety, including compliance with all safety protocols and proactive identification of hazards.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for shift reports and collaboration. Good oral and written communications in English.
- Quick and effective troubleshooting skills for process-related issues.
