The City of Greenwood Village's Parks, Trails, and Recreation (PTR) Department needs to perform tasks related to data collection and analysis to support capital projects, existing assets, and long-term planning. This involves collecting new field data and correcting/updating existing data within the City's GIS and other databases.
Requirements
- One to four years of experience with data analysis or related field.
- Enrolled to obtain or currently holding a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in data analysis, geographic information systems, computer science, urban planning, engineering, or related field.
- Basic data analysis and database functions, inputs, and uses.
- Principles and operating procedures for computer systems.
- Windows-based software applications including spreadsheets, word processing, presentation graphics, and desktop publishing.
- Microsoft Windows desktop and mobile operating systems.
- Use, application, and administration of ESRI GIS technologies.
Responsibilities
- Performs data input, data analysis, and production of data sets in various forms (GIS, maps, spreadsheets, charts, graphs, etc.).
- Collects field data, including the operation of field equipment, in City open spaces, parks, and trails.
- Coordinates with the GIS Administrator in IT for map layers, feature sets, and database structure.
- Assist in carrying out supervised quality control and assurance on the data.
- Develop simple automation processes and scripts under supervision.
- Management of geospatial and tabular data using standard industry tools.
- Gather, manipulate, analyze, interpret, and present data.

- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to obtain coverage by the City’s insurance carrier.
- Meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodation, including frequently sitting at computer for several hours; walking or standing for brief periods of time; talking to and hearing customers on telephone and in person; manual dexterity to search through files and control objects; reaching with hands and arms; and stooping, bending, and kneeling.
- Must be physically capable of safely moving about in parks and open space areas.
- The typical schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. Remote, hybrid, and/or flexible scheduling may be discussed upon hire and supervisor approval.
- As a municipal organization, Greenwood Village is a provider of emergency services. Some emergency situations, including weather-related emergencies, may necessitate Greenwood Village employees to assist in areas of work that may not be directly related to the employee’s specific job function, but which will be within the physical capabilities, training, and skills of the employee.
