San José State University is seeking part-time lecturers to teach undergraduate courses, including Sci 2/Success in Science, Sci 157SL/Community Action/Community Service, and UNVS 101/Leadership and Career Accelerator, to a diverse student population.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Science or related fields or equivalent is strongly recommended
- MS degree with teaching experience would be considered for teaching activity sections
- Knowledge of the subject matter of the specific course
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Commitment to student learning and team performance
- Ability to evaluate adult learners and evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work
- Familiarity with the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
Responsibilities
- Teach small to large lecture courses as well as seminars and activity sections
- Organize classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
- Offer and meet classes as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes
- Evaluate adult learners and provide evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work
- Demonstrate awareness and experience understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity
- Teach courses such as Sci 2/Success in Science, Sci 157SL/Community Action/Community Service, and UNVS 101/Leadership and Career Accelerator
- Use inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement
