The Penn State Berkey Creamery is seeking a part-time intern to assist in the Quality Assurance Lab to ensure the quality and safety of dairy products.
Requirements
- High attention to detail
- Food science experience or similar exposure to food processing at the lab, pilot plant or manufacturing plant level
- Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices for the food industry
Responsibilities
- Assisting with testing (analytical, microbiological) and evaluating (organoleptic) and release of products
- Managing ingredient and finished product documents including specifications, recipes, nutritional labels, standard operating procedures and other documentation related to food quality and safety in support of the manufacturing of dairy products
Other
- Must be available to work weekends
- Must be able to work as part of a team as well as with a diversified group of people
- Successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies
- Must be a current Penn State employee or student, or apply as an external applicant
- Ability to work late evenings, early mornings and weekend hours on occasions as schedules accommodate
