The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is looking to advance the safety, efficiency, and modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) through the Brand New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) contract, and Peraton is seeking a Performance & Load Test Engineer to ensure that deployed systems meet FAA operational demands and maintain high availability under load.
Requirements
- Proven experience in performance, load, and scalability testing for complex enterprise or mission-critical systems.
- Proficiency with tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of system architecture, distributed systems, and network protocols.
- Experience analyzing metrics, logs, and traces to diagnose performance issues.
- Ability to translate operational demands into performance test scenarios.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Knowledge of FAA operational standards and performance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead performance, scalability, and load testing for FAA modernization systems.
- Develop test strategies, plans, and scripts to validate system reliability under peak operational conditions.
- Oversee execution of load and stress tests, analyzing results to identify bottlenecks and areas for optimization.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, and infrastructure teams to resolve performance issues and improve system efficiency.
- Establish and maintain performance benchmarks and KPIs to ensure consistent quality standards.
- Provide detailed reports and recommendations to stakeholders on system readiness and performance improvements.
- Support capacity planning and forecasting to prepare for future scalability demands.

- Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience or Masters degree and 10 years or Associate’s degree and 14 years experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 16 years experience.
