Aquila is looking to solve the problem of building and maintaining a customer-focused online lead management system, Tekambi, designed specifically for alternative credit lenders, by hiring a PHP Developer to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of their SaaS web applications and back-end systems.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in PHP and modern frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or CodeIgniter.
  • Experience building enterprise software with solid experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server), including schema design and query optimization.
  • Fluency in building and consuming RESTful APIs, and experience with full-stack development, integrating HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like Vue.js, React, or Angular.
  • Proficiency with Git and modern collaboration workflows, and hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and scaling enterprise SaaS applications.
  • Understanding of how to build reliable, maintainable, and secure systems, contribute to code quality and continuous improvement, and ensure strong performance across environments.
  • Experience with AWS or Azure, Agile methodologies, SOC 2 considerations, Linux administration, Docker for local development, and collaborating with offshore teams.

Responsibilities

  • Full-stack PHP ownership, leading the end-to-end development of SaaS web applications, designing, developing, and maintaining PHP-based systems, RESTful APIs, and back-end services.
  • Ensure quality by reviewing and verifying work completed by contract and offshore developers, preparing tickets for deployment, and ensuring features are ready for production.
  • Technical innovation and architecture, staying current with industry trends, PHP frameworks, and best practices, and applying them to improve systems, workflows, and development standards.
  • Project and client management, acting as the main technical liaison between clients, account teams, and the offshore development group, clarifying requirements, translating needs into actionable technical plans, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
  • Communication and collaboration, partnering closely with front-end developers, UI/UX designers, QA, and product managers to deliver high-quality software, translating complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences, and supporting a collaborative environment.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging issues, ensuring applications are scalable and production-ready, and creating and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Conducting thorough code reviews, enforcing coding standards, and identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks across applications and databases to optimize speed and reliability.
