The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government needs to provide technical management over all wastewater treatment plant capital improvements.
Requirements
- Eight (8) years of related experience, 2 years of which should be directly related to water or wastewater treatment plant design.
- Professional Engineer License issued by the State of Kentucky; those with an equivalent license issued by another state, must obtain licensure in the State of Kentucky within the six (6) month probationary period.
Responsibilities
- Directs and manages all wastewater treatment plant capital improvements and establishes short and long range goals for the treatment plants
- Develops project scopes, selects design engineers, oversees contractor selection and manages construction contracts to ensure program goals are met
- Prepares, coordinates, evaluates and/or approves bids, designs, specifications, plans, contracts, applications, and estimates
- Develops and administers annual budget for current and upcoming programs and projects; manages project financials including pay applications and change orders
- Performs research, design solutions, coordinates recommendations, and manages in-house projects from design through construction to resolve issues within the treatment plants; communicates with and advises plant superintendents, staff, contractors and the administration.
- Supervises and evaluates the work of subordinates; directs the work of project engineers, contractors, inspectors, and clerical staff

- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience
