GE Aerospace is looking to ensure the security and integrity of their aviation software platforms by hiring a Cyber Security Architect to provide guidance, mentoring, oversight, and strategic direction to their software team developing high design assurance software for avionics Systems.

Requirements

  • DO-326 application: Experience executing the activities outlined to ensure safety of airborne software platforms against intentional cyber attacks.
  • DO-331 application: Understanding of how Model Based Design (MBD) is applied, developed, verified, and ultimately certified to meet DO-178B/C.
  • Strong knowledge of secure coding practices and common vulnerabilities in embedded systems.
  • Experience with security testing tools and methodologies.
  • Understanding of cryptography and secure communication protocols.
  • Experience with encryption, authentication, Root of Trust, and network security.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust cyber security measures for avionics software systems.
  • Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for aviation software platforms.
  • Develop and enforce security policies and procedures aligned with aviation industry standards.
  • Develop strategy and support execution of security testing, including penetration testing and vulnerability assessments, to support customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with customers, systems engineering, and software development teams to integrate security features into avionics systems.
  • Stay current with emerging cyber threats and security technologies in the aviation industry.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant aviation security regulations (e.g., DO-326A, ED-202A)

Other

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in development of embedded software.
  • 5+ years of experience in software security, with a focus on embedded systems or avionics.
  • 5+ years of experience working on DO-178C Software Level A-C programs.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to access to U.S. export-controlled information
