Caterpillar Inc. is looking for a Product Owner to maximize the value delivered by Agile Release Train (ART) development teams by ensuring the team backlog aligns with customer and stakeholder needs, acting as a primary customer advocate and link to business and technology strategy.
Requirements
- Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.
- Utilizes diverse analysis tools and methodologies to group different business activities based on shared characteristics or similarities.
- Knowledge of software engineering; ability to deliver new or enhanced fee-based software products.
- Knowledge of strategies, practices and tools for resolving software problems; ability to manage software problems in installed software products.
- Knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.
- Working knowledge of Engineering / Manufacturing workstreams would be key as this PO will be aligned with Visualization, and Data Exchange programs.
- Knowledge of software change request management; ability to manage software product change requests from customers, prospective customers, vendors, and internal staff.
Responsibilities
- Provides day-to-day support to customers and field service staff in relation to product implementation, customization, questions, and problems.
- Works with development or delivery of a software package or component.
- Documents resolution progress and provides feedback to customers.
- Describes issues and consideration for resolving problems involving other products or vendors.
- Cites examples of unusual problems; follows proper notifications and escalation procedures.
- Monitors end-users in defining the testing environment and acceptance criteria; explains the importance of being actively involved in test designs and other testing phases.
- Consults on test strategies, components, processes, plans and approaches during the user acceptance testing process.

- The Product Owner is the agile team member owning a product being delivered by the Agile Release Train (ART) who is primarily responsible for maximizing the value delivered by the development teams by ensuring that the team backlog is aligned with the customer and stakeholder needs.
- Product Owner is an extension of the Product Management function.
- The PO is the team’s primary customer advocate and primary link to the business and technology strategy.
- This enables the team to continuously develop a solution while balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.
- This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Mossville-Tech Center, IL office.
