YouTube's Trust & Safety team needs to enhance the YouTube experience, build internet safety, and protect free speech by developing global policies and product solutions for YouTube content and driving cross-functional projects impacting the global ecosystem. This involves bringing order and clarity to unstructured or ambiguous problems, contributing across multiple policy areas, and reviewing graphic, controversial, or offensive content.

Requirements

  • Experience in a policy, legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: drafting or enforcing online platform policy, engaging with online public policy issues, or product management focused on product and user safety
  • Experience with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policy
  • Experience engaging in and discussing sensitive or controversial policy/content areas
  • Understand and communicate the policy challenges and needs presented by new features and emerging global online content risks

Responsibilities

  • Develop global policies and product solutions for YouTube content
  • Drive cross-functional projects impacting the global ecosystem
  • Bring order and clarity to unstructured or ambiguous problems
  • Contribute across multiple policy areas
  • Review graphic, controversial, or offensive content in line with YouTube’s Community Guidelines
  • Develop or update global policies focused on policy requirements for new features
  • Lead execution all the way to launches

Other

  • 7 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment.
  • 7 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: drafting or enforcing online platform policy, engaging with online public policy issues, or product management focused on product and user safety.
  • 2 years of experience in people management, leading a team.
  • Experience managing programs that span organizations and have a direct business impact.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in a fluid environment.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and executive leadership.
