Clemson University's Mechanical Engineering department is looking to solve the problem of developing next generation digital agricultural systems
Requirements
- demonstrated experience and published in data-driven digital agriculture
- prior knowledge of automation, control and AI applications in controlled environment agriculture
- strong and fundamental knowledge of plant sciences
- strong and fundamental knowledge of computational sciences (e.g., controls and machine learning)
- prior hands-on experience, either in the field or in greenhouse
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field
Responsibilities
- conducting research
- writing technical papers
- assisting in proposal development
- developing new AI-driven and distributed computing tools for big data processing and decision making in field-based plant phenotyping
- developing new algorithms and tools to control the environmental conditions (lighting and CO2) in greenhouses
- other duties as assigned
