Brookhaven National Laboratory seeks to unravel and fully describe the complexities of biological systems, including plant secondary metabolism, lignin biosynthesis, and related post-translational regulation and metabolic crosstalk.
Requirements
- Standard molecular biology techniques such as DNA and RNA isolation, molecular cloning, protein expression and purification, enzymatic assay and product analysis.
- Experience in the studies of protein-protein interaction, protein/enzyme complex, protein post-translational modifications, proteomics, and/ or plant metabolite analysis.
- Knowledge on plant secondary metabolism, particularly phenylpropanoid-lignin biosynthesis, and/or plant cell wall biology.
- Membrane protein preparation and the related functional characterization
- Chemical analysis and/or structural determination of plant cell wall components.
- Operating analytic instrument such as HPLC, LC-MS and/or GC-MS and performing data analyses.

- Writing manuscripts
Other
- Requires a Ph.D. in plant biochemistry, plant molecular genetics, or related field
- BNL policy requires that after obtaining a PhD, eligible candidates for research associate appointments may not exceed a combined total of 5 years of relevant work experience as a post-doc and/or in an R&D position, excluding time associated with family planning, military service, illness or other life-changing events
- Candidates must have completed all degree requirements by the commencement of the employment
