The Department of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is seeking a Research Scientist to lead research into ALS and related neurological diseases
Requirements
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a relevant field
- experience with in vitro models of human neurodegenerative diseases
- experience with converting patients’ skin fibroblasts into disease-affected neural cells
- experience with screening of thousands of drug-like compounds
- experience with data analysis and interpretation
- experience with manuscript preparation
Responsibilities
- design and execute experiments
- analyze and interpret data
- contribute to manuscript preparation
- actively participate in lab meetings and collaborative research activities
- generate in vitro models of human neurodegenerative diseases by converting patients’ skin fibroblasts into disease-affected neural cells
- screening of thousands of drug-like compounds in search of potential therapeutics that slow or stop the degeneration of these cells in petri dishes
- eventually in patients
