Texas A&M University Health Science Center is seeking to advance interdisciplinary research in host pathogen interactions and therapeutic discovery, specifically focusing on mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of gastrointestinal diseases and antibiotic resistance.

Requirements

  • Proficient in standard molecular biology laboratory techniques, such as RT-qPCR, Western blotting, tissue culture, immunoprecipitations, ELISA, tissue staining, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry.
  • Laboratory research experience in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry and animal models of infectious diseases.
  • Expertise in molecular genetics, protein biochemistry and animal models
  • Conduct standard molecular biology laboratory techniques, such as RT-qPCR, Western blotting, tissue culture, immunoprecipitations, ELISA, tissue staining, fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, animal experimentation, cell biology and genomics.
  • Uses computers and laboratory equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, technical evaluation and presentation of research experiments and results.
  • Conducts literature searches and reviews, attends seminars, lab meetings and journal clubs.
  • Participates in joint projects involving faculty, lab personnel and graduate students.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct standard molecular biology laboratory techniques, such as RT-qPCR, Western blotting, tissue culture, immunoprecipitations, ELISA, tissue staining, fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, animal experimentation, cell biology and genomics.
  • Keeps detailed records of data.
  • Uses computers and laboratory equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, technical evaluation and presentation of research experiments and results.
  • Evaluates and summarizes results for inclusion in scientific publications and presentations.
  • Conducts literature searches and reviews, attends seminars, lab meetings and journal clubs.
  • Participates in joint projects involving faculty, lab personnel and graduate students.
  • Contribute as participant in research grant proposals, paper reviews, and provide publishable reports for journal presentation.

Other

  • Must be literate in the English language and able to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills in English.
