Texas A&M University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct research on sleep and circadian rhythms in fruit flies, aiming to advance understanding in this field.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in sleep, circadian rhythms, or related field.
- At least five years of experience working in Drosophila.
- Strong track record of publications in circadian Biology.
Responsibilities
- Conducts research in field of expertise, applying specialized knowledge and skills to complete research projects.
- Performs behavioral experiments.
- Executes genetic manipulations.
- Generates novel fly lines.
- Analyzes research data, summarizes findings, and contributes to research papers, articles, and publications.
- Prepares presentation materials on research topics and contributes to technical progress reports for research sponsors.
Other
- Under general supervision.
- Experience mentoring students and collaborating within research teams.
- Additional expertise in working across multiple model organisms to investigate circadian rhythms and sleep regulation.
- May assist, mentor, and/or supervise student researchers and/or graduate students who are working on research related to assigned projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with presenting to large groups.
- Analytical skills.
- Great attention to detail.
- Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
