Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a Postdoctoral researcher to work on the development of flexible biosensor and chemical actuator arrays to enhance bioelectrical devices functionality, performance, and longevity, with clinical translation as the ultimate goal.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering on topics related to materials printing, (implanted) bioelectronics, electrocatalysis and/or electrochemistry, or biosensing is required.
- Coursework in electrochemistry, bioelectronics or biosensing is required.
- Experience with chemical wet lab work is required.
- Experience with in vivo experimentation is required.
- Experience programming in Matlab and/or Python is desired.
- Experience with SEM/TEM/Raman/XPS/XRD is desired.
- Experience with immunohistochemistry or immunofluorescence is desired.
Responsibilities
- work on the development of flexible biosensor and chemical actuator arrays
- using unconventional approaches for the design and fabrication of bioelectrical platforms
- Using unique bioelectrical (physical and chemical) sensors and actuators will allow us to tackle grand biomedical challenges such as disease progression monitoring, controlled therapeutics delivery.
- make a mentoring plan and individual development plan (IDP).
- publish interdisciplinary work with a diverse team at top venues.
- present your work to a broad network in academia, national labs, and funding agencies.
- mentor highly capable graduate and undergraduate students.

- A strong publication record in relevant journals, excellent verbal and written English communication skills, and an ability to work effectively with others is required.
- The ability to work well in a self-paced, independent manner, while working well in cooperation with team members and partners is required.
- A commitment to meet research project deadlines is required.
- A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
