North Carolina State University's Computer Science department is looking to advance research on cross-layer software-hardware co-design to enhance the state-of-the-art machine learning systems, improving both efficiency and privacy.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, with a focus on machine learning hardware system design.
- Track record in efficient machine learning design (either algorithm or hardware), or in cryptographic techniques such as homomorphic encryption, multiparty computation, demonstrated through top-tier publications and relevant internship experience.
- Excellent academic writing skills with a strong ability to contribute to high-impact publications.
- Strong mentoring skills with experience guiding undergraduate and graduate students in research activities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on efficient and privacy-preserving machine learning systems, including, but not limited to Large Language Models (LLMs), Vision-Language Models (VLMs) etc.
- Develop and evaluate proposed methodologies using state-of-the-art computing platforms.
- Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals in computer systems, design automation, and security.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, providing guidance and oversight on research projects.
