The Pennsylvania State University is seeking an outstanding postdoctoral researcher to join the Intelligent Information Systems Laboratory to work on a project involving the use of AI in wildlife conservation and big data analytics in national parks.
Requirements
- strong record of technical excellence and achievement as demonstrated through publications, presentations at national and international meetings, and research in relevant discipline in artificial intelligence such as data mining, machine learning, natural language processing, deep learning, large language models, pattern recognition, computer vision, etc.
- strong prior experience in software development
- ability to design and perform experiments to validate research hypotheses
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related area prior to start date
Responsibilities
- involved in leading and assisting in proposal preparation
- research execution
- mentoring students on a project involving the use of AI in wildlife conservation and big data analytics in national parks
- identify and scope other areas of research to pursue
- design and perform experiments to validate research hypotheses
- mentor Ph.D. or M.S. students working on the project
- enhance the researcher’s skills and record for a placement in a leading university or research laboratory at the end of the post-doctoral position

- This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process.
- Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.
