The energy industry, particularly transmission grids, is undergoing major changes to accommodate regional and global decarbonization and energy transition targets. Underground and subsea cable technology are, in particular, increasingly becoming a major player in this energy paradigm shift to enable large-scale renewable energy generation, such as offshore wind, green hydrogen or large interconnectors.
Requirements
- solid foundation of technical knowledge in power system modeling and analysis
- Familiarity with power system studies using PSS/E, ETAP and PSCAD or other equivalents.
- Familiarity with applicable industry standards such as IEC, IEEE and CIGRE
Responsibilities
- support system studies projects at various stages of their lifecycle (i.e. from the technical bid/proposal to execution, reports, client meetings/presentations, to close-out)
- perform power system studies both internal to the plant (including, but not limited to, load flow, short circuit, insulation coordination, TOV, arc flash and harmonics)
- perform power system studies external to the plant (related to interconnection to ensure compliance with interconnection requirements as well as NERC standards)
Other
- Currently enrolled in Master’s or PhD program in Electrical Engineering
- Hybrid
- Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations enabling them to deliver their best work.
