Xcel Energy is seeking candidates to support the Integrated Systems Planning group, specifically within the Transmission Modeling and Analytics department to meet Xcel’s goal of a carbon-free system by 2050
Requirements
- Electrical engineering – circuits knowledge at a minimum
- Completion of a power systems introductory course would be a plus
- Introductory programming skills (e.g. Python, Matlab, C++)
- Any completion of energy systems courses (renewable energy, etc.) would be a plus
Responsibilities
- Learn to use various power systems modeling and analysis software, such as PSSE and TARA
- Automation of existing processes
- Assist with updates, data maintenance, and analysis
- Under guidance, perform power systems studies and reporting
Other
- Current student, Junior status (as of May 2026) or higher
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Renewable Energy or equivalent
- Able to commute to the corporate office in Minneapolis, MN, Denver, CO or Amarillo, TX
- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) and part time during the fall and spring (up to 20 hours a week)
- 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher
