Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated individual to join their Actuarial Division as a Predictive Modeler Intern to help create data files, build and evaluate predictive models, and present proposals for peer review and business approval.
Requirements
- An understanding of statistical and predictive modeling concepts, especially clustering and classification techniques
- High aptitude for programming languages
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, or R is a plus
Responsibilities
- Create data files to be used in modeling software
- Build and evaluate predictive models using modeling software
- Present predictive model proposals for peer review and business approval
- Create specifications for and coordinate implementation of predictive models
- Occasionally perform ad-hoc reporting to answer specific inquiries from upper management
Other
- Student must be working toward a bachelor’s in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data mining, machine learning, physics, operations research, or a related quantitative discipline, having at least two years of coursework completed.
- Master’s students are also considered if graduation is August 2026 or later.
