RA Capital is seeking to enhance its investment decision-making process in biotechnology and healthcare by improving its primary market research capabilities. The company aims to leverage AI and innovative methodologies to gain deeper insights into market trends, competitive landscapes, and investment opportunities.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in life sciences is required (e.g. college degree in life sciences and/or experience in a life science / pharmaceutical consulting)
  • 2–3 years of experience in primary market research or life sciences consulting; direct experience with survey design and execution is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate scientific and business questions into structured PMR studies.
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, data analysis, modeling); experience with Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data sources (e.g., claims, registries, syndicated reports) is desirable.
  • Experience with Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, or similar survey platforms is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, or R is advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute primary market research (PMR) surveys, including questionnaire development, logic testing, sampling strategy, data quality control, and validation.
  • Conduct and synthesize primary and secondary market research to evaluate market trends, competitive landscapes, unmet needs, and investment opportunities.
  • Analyze data from surveys, healthcare claims, and third-party industry sources to generate insights on market size, adoption patterns, pricing dynamics, and stakeholder behavior.
  • Develop compelling visualizations and deliverables that clearly communicate insights to support investment decision-making.
  • Organize, clean, and model complex datasets using Excel and other analytical tools.
  • Continuously improve our PMR capabilities by introducing and trialing innovative research methodologies, tools, and automation strategies.

  • Collaborate closely with investment associates and analysts to frame research objectives, align on survey approach, and ensure the right business questions are answered.
  • Must be based in Boston with ability to work out of our downtown Boston office on a hybrid schedule
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Eager to experiment with ways to incorporate AI into their work to be more efficient and effective.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to surface actionable insights from noisy or incomplete data.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, including writing, presenting, and data storytelling.
