Microsoft's Azure Data engineering team is looking to transform analytics in the world of data with products like Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. The Applied AI team is part of the Azure Data - Customer Advisory Team (CAT) and is seeking a Principal Applied AI Engineer to lead efforts in empowering customers by leveraging their data and applying the latest advances in Generative AI to transform their industries. The mission is to empower customers to transform their enterprise data into knowledge, whether structured or unstructured (RAG, NL2SQL, etc.).
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with data science / machine learning with an emphasis on experimenting using Python, C, etc.
- Experience with large data and compute using tools like spark, SQL, databases, other cloud solutioning (e.g. deployment, monitoring)

- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research) + OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research) + OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research) OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Experience communicating at different levels (e.g. customers, executives) to clarify problem statements, solutions and product feedback
