F5 is building a next-generation cloud-native ADC-as-a-Service platform that requires high-performance, programmable application delivery at global scale. The Principal Data Engineer will shape core infrastructure and build cutting-edge observability, security, and automation features for Customer Edge (CE) and Regional Edge (RE) deployments.
Requirements
- Expertise in programming languages such as Go, C/C++, or Rust.
- Familiarity with observability tools, security frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in designing and building scalable data pipelines and distributed systems across cloud and edge environments.
- Expert-level proficiency in data architecture, ETL frameworks, and technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, and cloud-native platforms.
- Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and mentor senior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement core components of our new platform, integrating F5 technologies into the XC environment.
- Lead architecture and development of scalable, distributed systems for application delivery and control/config planes.
- Drive performance tuning, observability, and security integration across CE and RE nodes.
- Architect and lead the development of scalable, secure, and high-performance data pipelines across distributed cloud and edge environments.
- Drive technical strategy for data infrastructure, aligning engineering efforts with business goals and product roadmaps.
- Champion data governance, observability, and automation practices to ensure reliability, compliance, and operational excellence.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, QA, SRE, and UI to deliver milestone objectives.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
- Participate in milestone planning, demos, and technical reviews to ensure alignment and delivery.
- Regularly assists Architects and Managers with project scope and estimating.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a proven track record of guiding technical teams and fostering engineering excellence.
