Pegasys is looking to simplify, safer, and more efficient surgical operations through AI-driven solutions in the perioperative space. The Principal Data Scientist will leverage expert-annotated data and imagery to create new machine learning and computer vision applications to enhance business processes and drive the company's mission forward.
Requirements
- Applied experience with training and refining Computer Vision models
- Experience with Large Language Model integrations, especially Azure OpenAI. Prior experience with implemented RAG systems a plus.
- Strong expertise in Python and familiarity with SQL
- Familiarity with cloud environments, preferably AWS or Azure, is a bonus.
- Proficiency with tools like Dataiku (for managing AI data pipelines) and Docker is desirable.
- Expert understanding of data manipulation, analysis, and visualization techniques.
- Experience with version control and collaboration tools such as Git and GitHub.
Responsibilities
- Developing and integrating machine learning, computer vision, and large-language models into our processes and applications.
- Collaborating closely with software teams to ensure seamless integration of AI models into business practices.
- Communicating complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical leadership, ensuring alignment and understanding.
- Utilizing Python and SQL to manipulate, analyze, and visualize data.
- Employing tools like Jira, GitHub, and Dataiku (for managing AI data pipelines) to manage projects and workflows.
- Utilizing Docker (desired) for containerization and deployment of models.
- Use expert-annotated data and imagery to create new machine learning and computer vision applications.

- 5+ years of professional experience in data science, with a strong portfolio of successful AI projects
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and debugging skills.
- Outstanding communication and collaboration capabilities.
- Familiarity with Agile tools like Jira and methodologies such as Scrum is preferred.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent practical experience.
