Microsoft's Industry Solutions Engineering (ISE) team is looking for a Principal Data Scientist to help drive high-impact engineering projects with customers and their partners, transforming their missions using AI and other cloud-based solutions and services. The role involves leveraging the latest technologies to address customer challenges and developing broadly applicable, high-impact solution patterns and open-source software assets.
Requirements
- 8+ years leveraging the practical uses of statistics (i.e. experimentation, statistical modeling).
- 8+ years of professional experience in SQL, R, Python, or related tools for large-scale analysis.
- Professional experience with large-scale computing systems like Hadoop, MapReduce, and/or similar systems.
Responsibilities
- Oversee data acquisition, formatting, and documentation while mentoring engineers on best practices in data cleaning and analysis.
- Assess and refine team models, promote scalable modeling practices, and introduce innovative evaluation techniques to ensure robust and reliable data-driven solutions.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and technologies to inform strategic direction.
- Write extensible, maintainable code and cultivate expertise in debugging and development best practices.
- Champion A/B testing and experimental design to validate product impact, while leveraging tools like SQL, R, and Python for analysis.
- Lead and grow a high-performing data science team, and build partnerships across product and business units to deliver data-informed solutions.
- Define and align business and customer goals, explore new opportunities with cross-functional teams, and deliver pragmatic, data-aligned solutions that meet customer needs.
