HARMAN Luxury Audio is seeking a talented, highly motivated, and dynamic Acoustics Engineer to join their product development team to perform the design and analysis of consumer loudspeaker systems to support the research and development of new product introduction (NPI).
Requirements
- Proficiency in the use of analytical tools such as finite element analysis (FEA) methods and other modeling and simulation tools for the design of acoustic devices, such as COMSOL.
- Proficiency in loudspeaker measurement techniques, methods, and equipment
- Understanding and experience with sound system design, room acoustics, and system tuning fundamentals.
- Thorough understanding of fundamental acoustic engineering principles.
- Background in applied acoustics, such as loudspeaker design.
- Minimum 5 years of related acoustic engineering experience.
- 7+ years of experience in designing active high-performance loudspeakers.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop complex acoustic systems, components, and assemblies for consumer loudspeaker applications using FEA, BEM, prototyping, and advanced engineering methods (e.g., Transducer, Network crossover development, Port design and tuning, and Cabinet specifications).
- Work with EE function to define amplifier, DSP, and wireless streaming platforms for active loudspeaker systems.
- Optimize active systems using DSP and other simulation tools for best acoustic results.
- Create engineering documentation to support the definition, design, performance, and testing of loudspeaker products and technologies.
- Define and test acoustic performance using the latest techniques.
- Recommend solutions and provide product spec feedback to GPLM team depending on test results.
- Research new technologies and solutions and perform experiments to determine potential design feasibility or application.

- Bachelor’s Degree in an audio-related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master’s Degree in Acoustics Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent technical degree.
- Be willing to work in an office in Northridge, CA
- Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
