Beehive Industries is looking to revolutionize the design, development, and delivery of jet propulsion systems for the warfighter by integrating additive manufacturing to meet the growing needs for unmanned aerial defense.

Requirements

  • Experience working with gas turbines for aviation product applications from a mechanical and aero design perspective.
  • Experience working with additive manufacturing technologies and familiarity with design for additive manufacturing principles.
  • Strong understanding of design software tools
  • Expertise in delivering aerodynamic solutions using 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D tools with gas turbines.
  • Experience in designing new combustor systems that are optimized and reliable for high altitude applications.
  • Passion for additive technology and willingness to challenge current design limitations to further exploit the benefits of additive capability.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the chemical and aerodynamic design, analysis, and evaluation of a combustor using sound engineering principles while meeting industry standards and program requirements.
  • Expertise in delivering aerodynamic solutions using 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D tools with gas turbines. Experience in designing new combustor systems that are optimized and reliable for high altitude applications.
  • Perform fuel spray system development and evaluation to ensure stable combustion.
  • Lead component and system trades from an aerodynamic perspective. Set test objectives and limits, instrumentation and test data requirements, and test planning to execute component validation.
  • Serve as the aerodynamic design subject matter expert as part of a diverse system design team. Ensure products and sub-systems meet overall requirements from a design perspective.
  • Lead design reviews and coordinate with other disciplines in design, performance, stress and life, additive manufacturing, materials and system analysis
  • Lead methodologies to develop new technologies to optimize the overall aerodynamic performance of a gas turbine with additive manufacturing. Participate in the research and development of technologies and methodologies associated with additive design to drive further capability in combustor systems.

  • At least 12+ years of experience in gas turbine and combustor design
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and strong program leadership and execution skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
