Brunswick is looking to innovate next-generation technologies that transform experiences on the water and beyond by designing, developing, validating, and releasing mechanical components for marine outboard engines, with a focus on structural components and vibration isolation systems, particularly elastomeric mount components.
Requirements
- Experience designing structural systems / components with the inclusion of component or system level isolation
- Strong understanding of FEA & fatigue analysis used in design development.
- Construct and execute comprehensive DVP’s involving coordination of cross functional resources.
- Aptitude for mechanical designs and system conceptualization
- Good Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) skills. Familiarity with all relevant manufacturing processes including casting and forging processes, machining, and plastic injection molding.
- Knowledge of six sigma tools and applications, including root cause failure analysis methods.
- Familiarity with the FMEA process
Responsibilities
- Lead outboard isolation system development including elastomeric mount components.
- Write detailed component design specifications.
- Challenge existing design practices and develop innovative solutions.
- Design lightweight and cost-effective components/systems using DFSS discipline.
- Design cost effective experiments to gather data needed for decision making / design approval.
- Draft and implement DVP for components with input from cross functional team.
- Develop patentable ideas that lead to commercial success in the market.
Other
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 8 or more years’ experience of product development experience, including all aspects of product life cycle from concept development to production release, and production support.
- Familiarity with CAD and structural analysis software packages – preferably Creo (CAD), Creo Mechanism (Multi-Body Dynamics), and Creo Simulate (FEA).
- Experience within Teamcenter engineering or similar PLM software/Change Release Process
- Ability to interpret data and independently analyze component failures; and recommend component or system changes.
