AVANGRID is looking to solve complex Distribution Planning and Reliability issues, including large scale customer load additions and complex DER interconnections, to improve the distribution system and identify deficiencies.

Requirements

• Theoretical Engineering knowledge: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytics, Modeling & Calculation (e.g., sym. Components, per unit, etc.), Understanding the Business Model
• Practical Engineering Experience/Application: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction, (e.g. field experience, standardization, develop business case and defend in front of stakeholders)
• Engineering documentation: Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation, review, and approve engineering work done by others
• Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment: Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and Requirements (NERC, NPCC, ISO, PUC, etc.)
• Power System Studies - Knowledge & Interpretation of Study Assumptions and Results: (e.g., Comprehensive Area Studies, Power Flow, DER, Voltage, Contingency, phase imbalance, Power Factor correction, Short Circuit, reliability, resiliency, Capacity, distribution automation, etc)
• Software Proficiency - Power System Analytics: (e.g. CYME, PSS/E, SYNERGY, ASPEN, etc.)
• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering

Responsibilities

• Solve complex and unique Distribution Planning and Reliability issues, studies to include large scale customer load additions and complex DER interconnections;
• Develop alternative methods or design concepts to resolve unique problems or to improve processes/services including Non-Wires Alternatives (NWAs).
• Proactively studies and reports on the status of all distribution system facilities in assigned geographical area of responsibility on an established repeating cycle, assigned area may include multiple OPCOs.
• Manage divisional and company- wide projects/studies/initiatives, serve as SME on assigned demonstration projects, initiatives, and teams across AVANGRID.
• Lead teams, acts as experienced mentor & reviews engineering work of others in the department, manage and provide direction to resources outside the department.
• Makes presentations to regulatory/public entities. Explain difficult concepts & influence others.
• Perform complex engineering analyses for locating and determining the settings for distribution automation equipment.
