Microsoft's Cloud & AI organization is looking to accelerate its mission and bold ambitions in securing digital technology platforms, devices, and clouds in customer environments, as well as ensuring the security of its own internal estate. The organization needs a Principal Engineering Manager to lead security strategies across critical services, assess risks, identify critical data sources and mitigation strategies, and evolve defenses based on the threat landscape.
Requirements
- 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- 8+ years of experience in designing, building, and operating scalable, highly available cloud services or distributed systems on platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, including production ownership, CI/CD integration, and applying distributed systems concepts (e.g., concurrency, conflict resolution, consensus algorithms) for resilience and maintainability.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage software engineering team in the design, development, testing and development of technologies.
- Provide technical leadership to develop and implement engineering standards and procedures for technical excellence and high quality outcomes.
- Develops best practices for others to review debugging tools, logs, telemetry, and other methods, and acts as an expert for others to verify assumptions through writing and developing code proactively before issues occur and reactively as issues occur across products and multiple teams.
- Embeds security engineering throughout the development lifecycle; defines secure coding practices, ensures regulatory compliance, and leads incident readiness and vulnerability mitigation strategies.
- Oversees overall system architecture of critical security services and products.
- Establishes processes to measure and ensure system architecture is effective and meets the current and future needs and requirements
- Builds and maintains strategic and impactful partnerships to align cross-functional security and product teams and drive outcomes and set standards.
