Northrop Grumman is seeking a dedicated Quality Engineer to join the Vendor Material Disposition Area (VMDA) to develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials products, focusing on defect minimization and process improvement.
Requirements
- Experience with SAP, ISE, and/or CADSTAR.
- Experience with dispositioning nonconforming material reports.
- Experience working with electrical or mechanical design requirements and specifications (IPC, J-STD, MIL-STD).
- Experience with AS9100 Quality Management System and AS9102 First Article Inspections.
- Green/Black Belt Certified in Lean Six Sigma.
- The ability to obtain a DOD secret clearance
- US citizenship required.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
- Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
- Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
- Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
- Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
- May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
- May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
Other
- Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in quality; OR a minimum of 3 years in quality with a Master's degree in a related STEM field; 1 year with a PhD.
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams to resolve problems or issues.
- Solid written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
- US citizenship required.
