Merck & Co. is looking to solve the problem of enhancing understanding of diseases, quantifying outcomes, and communicating the value of their products to patients, providers, payers, and policymakers through the development and implementation of cutting-edge mathematical and economic models.

Requirements

  • Masters in a quantitatively oriented discipline such as health economics, mathematical epidemiology, applied mathematics, operations research, public health, and statistics
  • Advanced knowledge of economic evaluation and cost-effectiveness analysis
  • Extensive experience in scientific computing and programming with software such as Mathematica, MATLAB, Python, or C++
  • Experience in the design and development of health economic modeling approaches
  • Experience in the design and analysis of mathematical models of infectious diseases and vaccination
  • Ability to Work Under Pressure, Bioethics, Biostatistics, Data Management, Economic Evaluations, Health Economics, Health Outcomes Research, Infectious Disease, MATLAB, Operations Research, Python (Programming Language), Researching, Scientific Research
  • Current knowledge of health economic and decision sciences principles and methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic development and implementation of cutting-edge mathematical and economic models
  • Utilizes model-based scientific and business insights across all phases of drug and vaccine development
  • Serves as the Health Economic and Decision Sciences (HEDS) lead for one or more value evidence teams
  • Generates evidence, including the development of health economic, disease, and other mathematical models
  • Enables business and scientific insights for vaccines aimed at preventing infectious diseases
  • Designs and develops health economic modeling approaches to enable internal and external decisions
  • Designs and analyzes mathematical models of infectious diseases and vaccination

  • Ability to work independently and effectively interact with a broad group of stakeholders
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure
  • Strong record of research publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Travel Requirements: 10%
